Wes O'Brien


Wesley OBrien has more than 25 years experience as an executive with customer service, technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies serving the telecom, insurance, healthcare, financial services, and E-commerce sectors. Prior to his appointment as CEO and Director of CrowdEngineering, Mr. O’Brien held top management positions at companies including SITEL (add descriptor), Cambridge Solutions (global BPO/ITO services firm), Precision Response Corp (integrated customer care provider) TresCom International (where he led its IPO and subsequent company sale); MCI’s $1.5+ billion Small Business Division, and at Price Waterhouse. Wes is a CPA and received his BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton (USA).



Gioacchino La Vecchia

Co-Founder and Chief Architect

Gioacchino La Vecchia is Co-Founder and Chief Architect of CrowdEngineering, with ultimate responsibility for the design of the CrowdForce™ platform, direction and execution of the product roadmap; as well as relations with key partners and customers.  Before co-founding CrowdEngineering in 2009, Gio served as Senior Executive for H3G, the 3G Telco Italian branch of the Hutchison Whampoa conglomerate, and previously as a Manager at Accenture. Administrator of the WC3’s Italian office for more than a dozen years, Gio is an acknowledged Web pioneer (Sunsite, Apache and Netscape contributor), a thought leader and frequent speaker on crowdsourcing and collaboration at industry conferences (e.g. Crowdopolis, CrowdConf 2011, CrowdConvention 2011, Crowdsortium. Gio received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Università di Pisa (Italy).



Massimo Piccioni

Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technical Officer, Massimo oversees the engineering team driving product development and the technology platforms of CrowdEngineering. Prior to co-founding CrowdEngineering, (with Gio La Vecchia in 2009), Massimo served as Chief Architect for Accenture, working on complex projects for telecommunications companies including Infostrada, Wind, Telecom Italia, and H3G Italy focusing on service provisioning systems, IT infrastructure, VoIP, IPTV, DVB-H platforms, internet portals, Mobile VAS and enterprise platforms. He later joined Olidata to run its R&D department was later promoted to CTO. Massimo’s extensive past experience and effective management style is a major influence on the architecture, deployment and support of CrowdEngineering’s solutions and customer service offerings. He also played an important role in securing CrowdEngineering’s U.S. patent IP 8,099,311 for a "Smart Crowdsourcing" system.


Karina Buch

Chief Operating Officer, EMEA

Bringing an outstanding international track record of managing and developing customer and partnerships, Karina Buch joined CrowdEngineering as Chief Operating Officer for EMEA in 2012. Previously Karina held international leadership positions for Oracle and most recently was Chief Information Officer for the Christie’s, the world-renowned auction house, where she was responsible for the IT strategy and operations. Karina has worked and managed in a range of different fields within her career: from customer service to consulting, to information technology and sales. At CrowdEngineering, a Karina focus on ensuring customers and partners get maximum value from their Social CRM investment, and is responsible for directing the continued rapid growth and success of CrowdEngineering across the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region.


Joseph J. Ferraro

Senior Vice President, Business Development

Joe Ferraro is a veteran sales, service, and operations executive with experience in the telecommunications, professional and financial services, insurance and retail sectors. Before joining CrowdEngineering, Mr. Ferraro managed 350+ Fortune 500 companies as Head of Service, (Americas Region) at Xchanging plc. Previously he was a Partner in Accenture’s CRM Practice, served as COO at SkyTel, also as VP of Customer Service for both Quest Communications and for TeleTech Holdings. Earlier in his career, Ferraro held a number of sales and operational roles for AT&T-- including directing its Multilingual Customer Service Centers. Mr. Ferraro has extensive experience living and working in Europe and parts of Asia. Joe holds a BS from Rutgers University and an MBA from New York University (USA).
