Mr. Michele Costabile

Chairman, Board of Directors


Mr. Michele Costabile is board member and venture advisor at Principia SGR (, one of Italy’s leading venture capital firms, that is funded in part by the Italian National Research Council (CNR), and who through teams based in its Milan and Rome Italy offices invests in early stage and startup companies. Mr. Costabile is also a business school and university professor who teaches “Fundamentals of Management, Marketing, E-Commerce and Multichannel Management at the University of Calabria; marketing at SDA Bocconi Graduate School of Management in Milan, and international marketing at LUISS “Guido Carli” University in Rome. Current and past advisor to a range of mid-to-large corporations and board member of several Italian high tech companies, Costabile is co-founder of the Techgarage Association (, which promotes innovation and entrepreneurship through business plan contests in Italy. Recipient of a degree in economic and social sciences from the University of Calabria (Italy), Michele was also a researcher at Harvard Business School and visiting scholar at the business schools of Columbia University and Northwestern University.


Wes O'Brien



Wesley OBrien has more than 25 years experience as an executive with customer service, technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies serving the telecom, insurance, healthcare, financial services, and E-commerce sectors. Prior to his appointment as CEO and Director of CrowdEngineering, Mr. O’Brien held top management positions at companies including SITEL (add descriptor), Cambridge Solutions (global BPO/ITO services firm), Precision Response Corp (integrated customer care provider) TresCom International (where he led its IPO and subsequent company sale); MCI’s $1.5+ billion Small Business Division, and at Price Waterhouse. Wes is a CPA and received his BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton (USA).


Ron Guerriero



Working from its Boston and Milan offices, Ron Guerriero is Partner at dpixel (, and an active Director and formerly Interim CEO to CrowdEngineering.  Ron Guerriero has nearly 40 years experience as founder, executive, and advisor to early stage companies, larger companies (private and public) and non-profit organizations with proven expertise in sales, marketing, business development and finance. Beyond his professional involvements, Ron is passionate about educating and encouraging young entrepreneurs (as evidenced through his role as Advisor to NFTE – the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship), as well as his longstanding Adjunct Professor at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, which is also his alma mater.


Gioacchino LaVecchia

Gioacchino La Vecchia, In early 2009 co-founded CrowdEngineering, high tech company with an innovative approach to enterprise crowdsourcing, internet collaboration deeply integrated with enterprise business processes as customer service. He contributed to the raising of initial US$ 350k of seed capital. After 1.5 years CrowdEngineering was already operating in Europe and United States reaching the milestone of positive cash flow. At the end of Q1 2011 he leaded CrowdEngineering to the closing of a round A of financing with Venture Capitalists raising US$ 4M to accelerate the go to market and the evolution of the core offering Before founding CrowdEngineering La Vecchia has been serving as Senior Executive for H3G, the 3G Telco Italian branch of Hutchison Whampoa conglomerate. Previously he has been a Manager in Accenture.

Internet pioneer, La Vecchia has been involved in the seed of the Web phenomenon since the beginning.


Gianluca Dettori



Mr. Gianluca Dettori is Founder and Chairman of dpixel ( a venture capital firm based in Milan, Italy focused on seed and early-stage investments in startup companies in the internet, new media and technology sectors. A Board Observer of CrowdEngineering, Mr. Dettori also sits on the boards of a number of other companies including Sardex, Iubenda, and Seolab.  Previously, as founder and CEO of Vitaminic (the company that built and offered the leading digital music player in Europe), Dettori grew and managed a team of 180 employees in 6 European countries, and led the company to its IPO in October 2000. He also previously served in executive positions with Olivetti Telemedia, Lycos Bertelsmann and Lycos Europe, as well as Italia Online. Contributor to WIRED magazine and a Kauffman Fellow, Gianluca holds a bachelor’s in economics & marketing from the University of Torino (Italy).
